I'm a pediatric nurse practitioner in Lafayette, Louisiana. Outside the clinic I build things. I have never once left a broken workflow alone.

School took a while to get right. I started biological engineering at LSU Eunice, picked up an associate degree on the way, and transferred to LSU to carry the same program into its third year. Then I left it for a BSN at UL Lafayette. From there: adult ICU, then pediatric ICU as a charge nurse and PALS instructor, back to UL Lafayette for an MSN, and a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Fellowship at Ohio State. Somewhere in there pediatrics stopped being a rotation and became the plan. In most of medicine, being a little goofy is a liability. With kids, it's the job.

Today I carry my own primary care panel, hold a Pediatric Primary Care Mental Health Specialist certification, and I'm the one the clinic calls when Epic breaks. I precept nurse practitioner and physician assistant students. The number I'm proud of isn't on a resume: 7 of the first 12 came back for a second rotation.

The rest of my time goes to a homelab, where I self-host nearly everything I build. A serialized comedy about my own clinic. A growing set of clinical and referral tools. A rhyming children's book for my godchild. I ship small and useful over big and generic. A feature earning nothing gets cut the same day. Sunk cost has never talked me out of deleting anything.

I've spent a lot of my life teaching people how to keep other people alive. Twelve years as a Red Cross instructor in CPR, wilderness first aid, and lifeguarding. PALS for colleagues. Eagle Scout, and one summer running an aquatics program in Fairbanks, Alaska. Habitat builds when they come up. A spot on Louisiana's hurricane-shelter volunteer roster since 2017, because six years of ICU was apparently not enough disaster response for one lifetime.

What's left goes to Disney trips, pin trading, houseplants I refuse to let die, LEGO, disc golf, and board games. Family's close, a couple more nurses among them, and the friends have stuck around long enough to stop counting as new.
